A Mother’s Day Gift Guide
Mother’s Day is one of those days that always creeps up on me and then I’m scrambling at the last minute to make my mom feel special. I usually end up taking her out for dinner, which is nice, but wouldn’t it be so much more thoughtful to get her a nice gift?
Mother’s Day is May 13th this year! (in Canada)
So this year, I’m planning ahead and coming up with a nice list of gifts for your mother and mine! Because we love them and we want them to know it. Scroll through the list until you find something that appeals to you, as it will include a wide variety of gift ideas for all sorts of moms, from jewelry and beauty products to art, books, edibles, and wearables.
1. The Mama Bear Necklace
Perfect for moms with four children or less. This necklace is handmade with delicate care and represents a mother’s guidance and protection. This would make a great joint gift from you and your siblings. Show her how much she means to you!
2. Ampersand Serving Tray
How fun is this cheese and crackers tray? Great for the entertainer or hostess. The nice thing about the time period we are living in is that everything has already been thought of. Now, in order to stand out, people are forced to create fun variations of the classics. Needless to say, this serving tray is adorable while also being extremely usable. Great for parties and holiday dinners, I think moms everywhere will love it.
3. Aerial Wine Painting
If your mom loves wine and also loves art, here is an incredible bird’s eye view painting of red wine! A perfect print for the kitchen or dining room, this watercolor art will bring a unique touch to mom’s space. This painting really impressed me – I know your mom will love it too!
4. Motherhood Glass Globes
Hand-blown glass globes are some of my favourite home décor items. They look so magical hanging in the window and mesh nicely with many styles of interior decorating. These tree-of-life globes have something special, representing many familial relationships. The motherhood globe is the perfect gift. Celebrate your mom and the incredibly important role she plays in your life.
5. Tea Drops
Like tear drops but without any sadness. No need to steep with these dissolving balls of tea. Great for moms on the go or mom’s me-time. These were created by Sashee Chandran with a little genius and a lot of love. Use one drop for each cup of tea! Pour hot water over them and they dissolve into a perfect cup – a great gift for your tea-loving mom. Check them out here.
6. Literary Scarves
If your mom is a book lover, wrap her up in a soft scarf, hand-printed with your choice of classic novel. Options include Alice in Wonderland, Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, or Pride and Prejudice. Good luck making that decision! Great for any mom who loves to read and enjoys unique clothing items, this scarf will surely delight her. Click Here To Learn More.
7. Red Wine And Chocolate Tower
This is a box tower containing all sorts of chocolate everything, including red wine infused with chocolate! A wonderful gift for the chocolate-loving moms out there, this tower is sure to deliver – straight to her door! Tell me you wouldn’t be thrilled to receive a chocolate and wine tower in the mail.
8. Moon Phase Necklace
The phases of the moon have been revered, loved, even worshipped throughout history. Representative of female energy and life cycles, this gorgeous handmade lunar phase necklace will be a hit. Let her be mesmerized by the intricate details within. This necklace contains actual tiny photographs of the moon at its various phases. View this and the other space jewelry here.
9. Personalized Puzzles
Put those lovely little faces on a handmade puzzle! Jason from Puzzling Memories will put any photo you send him on a handmade wooden puzzle. You can also get a puzzle made into fridge magnets. Click Here to get a promo code and give her a thoughtful, handmade keepsake.
10. Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Total V Contouring Serum
That name is a bit of a mouthful, but this serum effectively lifts and tightens skin, and drains excess fluids from the face. It comes in three different sizes and is perfect for the moms who are getting a little older and maybe aren’t all that comfortable with it! A serum isn’t going to stop her from getting older, but this one can make a difference in appearance. If your mom is easily offended, I suggest you skip this one.
11. Silk Scarf
These scarves are 100% silk. They are handmade and hand-dyed in Thailand by a woman named Vinita. Sold by a fair trade company called Novica, you can rest assured that the artist is receiving fair compensation for her hard work! Are they a little too affordable? Compared to handmade items in the Western world, yes. She did a great job on the ombre, too!
12. Flower Power
Still not sure what to get your mom? Get her a nice bouquet! Don’t underestimate flower power. Sure, they have the unfortunate habit of dying, but they’re beautiful for a couple of weeks and they can brighten up any living space. It’s not really about gifts, it’s more about making your mom feel honoured, important, and thought about. Pair them with a locally made mother’s day card!
13. 20 Ways To Draw A Tree (And 44 Other Nifty Things From Nature)
What better gift for the artsy mom than this cool instructional sketchbook? The adult colouring book industry hit it off a couple of years ago when we all realized how therapeutic it can be. Take it up a notch with this book where she can learn to draw her own nature doodles!
I hope you found a gift for your mom in this list! (or at least some gift inspiration). Make sure your mom knows how much you love her!
